Funding at Golden Apples Nurseries

At Golden Apples, we are pleased to offer Government-funded childcare places for eligible families.

Funding may be available for 15 or 30 hours per week (term-time equivalent), depending on your child’s age and your family’s eligibility. As funding arrangements vary slightly depending on your nursery location, we have provided the relevant official documents below for Cambridge, Norfolk and Suffolk.

How Our Funding Works

We operate a stretched funding model, meaning your funded hours are spread across the year rather than taken term-time only. This allows families to benefit from consistent, all-year-round childcare. If you require a term-time placement, please speak with your nursery manager to discuss your options.

Our nurseries are open for 51 weeks per year. Depending on your funding location, your funding will be applied across either 50 or 51 weeks (for example, Cambridge is funded for 50 weeks per year). If you require childcare during the additional unfunded week, this will be charged at the standard rate in line with your nursery price list.

Funding is delivered in fixed sessions between:

  • 9.30am – 1.00pm (AM Session)

  • 1.00pm – 5.00pm (PM Session)

Sessions may be booked individually or combined for a full day.
Funding must be taken within these session times.

What Is Covered by Government Funding?

Government funding is intended to provide free, high-quality childcare.

It does not cover:

  • Meals and snacks

  • Nappies, wipes and other consumables

  • Additional hours beyond your funded entitlement

  • Optional enrichment activities

Optional Chargeable Extras

We offer additional services that families may choose to opt into.

Enhanced Activities (£10 per funded session)
These include seasonal celebrations, cultural experiences, specialist workshops, small-group enrichment sessions, parent events, and enhanced access to Tapestry. These activities go beyond the statutory EYFS curriculum and are entirely optional.

If you choose to opt out, your child will continue to receive the full EYFS curriculum.

Food Provision
We provide freshly prepared meals and snacks throughout the day, including breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and tea. Families may opt into our food provision in line with our current price list, or provide food from home in accordance with our Food From Home Policy.

Non-food consumables (such as nappies, wipes, sun cream, nappy bags and creams ) must be supplied by parents.
